Bitcoin rally slips as momentum ebbs
Bitcoin’s earlier rally faltered as Friday wore on. At 3pm London time the digital currency was valued at $6,652 – still up almost 2% on the day. Ethereum looked somewhat more resilient at $226 and still up 3% overall.

Friday fragility
After bitcoin cash’s recent surge its 3.5% fall – valuing it at $549 – wasn’t a surprise, though in mid-afternoon trade the price was back in recovery mode in the $540-$550 range.
There was better news for eos, up 3.14% at $5.81.
The two biggest gainers in the last 24 hours are external, up more than 45% and gas, up 34.3% while steem has lost close to 6%.
XRP remains the stand-out performer of the last fortnight following the surprise news of the xRapid release, though for most other currencies it has been, pending news of a Bitcoin ETF, a subdued trading period.
