Crypto hackers took over 380 million computers in China
Crypto hackers who took over 380 million computers in China have been arrested by authorities.
The malware developers installed mining software on hacked machines that detected when a computer’s main chip (CPU) was running at less than 50% capacity, then start mining cryptocurrencies in the background.
Government agencies arrested 20 people, 11 of whom were later released, according to coin site CryptoComes.
It is believed that more than 26 million coins, including Siacoin, worth roughly $2.25m were mined over a two-year period.
Chinese government sources accused Dalian Yuping Network Technology Co. of being involved in the hacking.
