IEC launches cryptocurrency exchange
Investment Evolution Coin has confirmed the launch of its Malta-based cryptocurrency exchange, Investment Evolution Exchange (IECX). IECX says it’s hiring a team of employees for its Malta global head office and taking applications for crypto coin and token listings.
Paul Mathieson, IEC chairman and CEO, said his team undertook close research into potential jurisdictions. He says Malta “was the standout location for our cryptocurrency exchange, with the added benefit of Malta being a European Union member”.

Malta is keen to keep its crypto-friendly credentials in clear view
Three recent Malta government bills, passed into law in July, provide a robust regulatory framework that will support the blockchain industry and provides certainty for companies like IECX, Mathieson added.
Malta support grows
IECX currently trades Investment Evolution Coin (IEC) and Bitcoin and will shortly add other cryptocurrencies to the exchange, including Ethereum it claims.
Yesterday it was confirmed US-based cryptocurrency exchange Bittrex had snapped up a 10% stake in Malta-based blockchain startup Palladium. Palladium had already confirmed plans to raise €150m through tokenized securities, ending 30 September.

First blockchain uni?
Malta also looks set to host the world’s first blockchain university – Woolf University. The idea is the brainchild of Joshua Broggi, an ex University of Oxford researcher.
“Malta provides,” says Broggi, quoted this week in a Medium article, “an educational framework based in the British tradition – and after Brexit, Malta will remain both an EU member state and a Commonwealth member. We have had productive meetings with [Education Minister] Evarist Bartolo and the National Commission for Further and Higher Education (NCFHE).”
