David Labhart was hired as the head of compliance and co-general counsel at TRON, one of the biggest cryptocurrency companies, creator of TRON (TRX).

Labhart is leaving his position from S&P Global Ratings as a North American senior director of compliance to work with TRON. Before S&P Global Ratings, he was a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commissions (SEC) officer for eight years. During Labhart’s time at the SEC, he was a supervisory attorney adviser where he handled securities litigation.

“Joining TRON is the perfect progression in a career driven by a passion for the frontier of the financial industry; where technology meets regulation. Blockchain and cryptocurrency are the next step in the evolution of the world’s financial system, and I’m excited about Justin’s passion and long-term view of the benefits and potential impact of this new technology.”

Labhart said in a press release.

TRON was founded in July 2017 in Singapore and launched their first protocol for open source in December of 2017.

Shortly afterwards, the company launched more systems and services, including Blockchain Explorer, TestNet, Web Wallet, and MainNet in 2018. TRX has become one of the world’s leading cryptocurrencies. According to financial analysts, 2019 is going to be a year of an expanded institutional involvement in the cryptocurrency industry, and therefore a broadened legislation, too. TRON’s move to hire former SEC officer shows the company is preparing to be ready.
