V-bucks and cryptocurrencies set to dominate the holidays
The days of puppies and ponies are over. Fortnite, the online game with almost 80 million players, is taking over this holiday season. Teenagers no longer care for physical cash, but instead have v-bucks and cryptocurrencies on their Christmas list.
In a report published by investment bank Piper Jaffray, v-bucks and cryptocurrencies join the list of most desirable gifts for teens this season. V-bucks are a Fortnite currency that users can use to purchase in-game content such as a Battle Pass, skins, and outfits players can use to personalize their characters. The virtual currency is currently priced at $9.99 for 1,000 V-bucks.
Not surprisingly, along with the crypto the top of the list is held by Apple products such as the iPhone XS, which was released earlier this year. And what good is an iPhone if you don’t have the clothing to match? According to the survey, Gucci, Vans, Adidas and Lululemon are the most wished for clothing brands among teens.
Electronics have always dominated the holiday season wishlists, what’s interesting though is that now the virtual currencies are added there. With crypto value going up while being connected with so many exciting innovations, it seems physical money no longer has much value for teens.
